Loneliness-Chapter 5: Listening Aid

I coped with loneliness by keeping myself busy with work, working out, and involvement. I went home, and it was only me at home. I had to do everything myself, such as cooking, laundry, and grocery shopping. By the time I finished everything, it was late.

Sometimes, I needed to talk to someone, but I had no one to talk to. I could not call anyone like I called my family. I went to bars with friends, and we drank too much. We ended up talking the same things over and over again without resolving anything. However, I was glad that some of us decided to go traveling. Traveling could be a great way to create new connections or discover more about ourselves by reflecting on the past.

In the end, I remind myself that people care about me and that I should continue to move on even though I am not happy with the current situation. I remind myself that I am the one to decide whether to be satisfied or not. Even though my friends are busy with their lives, I understand they will reach out and reply to my messages or texts. If I need someone to listen to me, I can try multiple ways to create new connections or create an annual meeting to check with friends.

It’s temporary. Somebody will listen to me, and I will hear back to them. Until then, I must keep myself healthy, fit, and functional. Writing a journal and writing rap lyrics are my temporary therapy for listening to myself.
